Good afternoon, and Happy May!! There are so many new books being released this month that I have been waiting for all year, and I bet you can tell from the title which one I’ve already read. A Court of Frost and Starlight was one of myΒ most anticipated books of 2018, and it came out yesterday May 1st. It was such a cute little Novella, and I felt that it set up the next set of books nicely. Here is the synopsis from Good Reads:
The Winter Solstice. In a week. I was still new enough to being High Lady that I had no idea what my formal role was to be. If we’d have a High Priestess do some odious ceremony, as lanthe had done the year before. A year. Gods, nearly a year since Rhys had called in his bargain, desperate to get me away from the poison of the Spring Court to save me from my despair. Had he been only a minute later, the Mother knew what would have happened. Where I’d now be. Snow swirled and eddied in the garden, catching in the brown fibers of the burlap covering the shrubs My mate who had worked so hard and so selflessly, all without hope that I would ever be with him We had both fought for that love, bled for it. Rhys had died for it.
This book takes place a few months after ACOWAR, and follows some main characters who are having trouble adjusting after the bloodshed. I was so excited to dive into this book, and be transported back to Velaris with our favorite Inner Circle. The point of views change almost every chapter between Feyre, Rhys, Cassian, Mor, and Nesta. I enjoyed this aspect of the book, but wish I could have seen a chapter from either Elain or Azriel’s POV. Even though it was just a couple hundred pages, I truly enjoyed this novella and hope others do as well. There’s a little bit of mixed reviews on this one going around, but I think people were expecting either a full-length book, or something major to happen. Which in my opinion, Feyre did reveal something a little major to Rhysand, but I won’t spoil it for anyone! Overall, this book is a great bridge between the original trilogy and the next one, and so happy that it will be from the perspective of two certain characters! (There is a excerpt in the back of ACOFAS for the next book)
I give this novella 5/5 stars.
Looks amazing! It’s definitely on my tbr list- even more so now it’s got a great review π
